What people believe ‘it takes’ to make improvements to their health and fitness is often far greater than the reality of it.
.
Frankly; we’re to blame: by ‘we’, I mean health ‘gurus’ and fitness professionals for the messages we have pumped into the ether over the years.
.
“Go hard or go home!”
.
“No pain, no gain!”
.
“Eat clean – your body is not a dustbin.”
.
and that old fav “What’s your excuse?”
.
I dunno – what’s yours for being an insufferably arrogant twat?
.
It paints an intimidating picture of pain, sacrifice and a HUGE investment of time and energy.
.
Well, for one – this is bullshit.
.
Secondly; it prevents many from even starting: and not just because they’re daunted — they can believe there’s no point until they can invest this level of commitment.
.
(And so talk themselves out of taking the first step)
.
It’s a damn shame because the truth is, whatever your current circumstances and limitations, making the best of them is ALWAYS worthwhile.
.
You will progress.
.
You will feel better for doing so.
.
And while you may not train 6 times a week and live in the land that flavour forgot (where the chicken, broccoli and green smoothies run free) you WILL be engaged in a routine that YOU can SUCCEED with.
.
Can only train for 30 minutes twice a week, right now? No worries – let’s get you doing that!
.
10k steps a day a bit unrealistic atm but 8k is? BRILLIANT – you can’t do more than what you’re able to, so do that!
.
If you switch to seeing it this way, you’ll realise that you can ALWAYS make the best of your circumstances – which will help you make the best of YOU.
.
And don’t let any Instaham, Fitspo, douchebag make you feel any different
